You don’t always need a new wardrobe. Sometimes you just need a really good bag — or an earring nobody can ignore. At Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027, accessories were anything but an afterthought. Bags got brighter, bigger and softer, jewellery became impossible to miss and belts started behaving more like decoration. Then there were the shoes, where designers seemed to agree that normal was getting a little boring.
The good news? These might be the easiest runway ideas to steal. Some require an investment, others a trip to a vintage shop and a few can probably already be found somewhere in your wardrobe. Here are the 10 SS27 accessory trends we loved most.

1 // Your bag needs some colour

Black will survive. Your bag can still have more fun. Prada showed elongated bags in sharp green, red and purple, Fendi added flashes of colour to its Baguette, Marni mixed reds and multicolours, Gucci went deep fuchsia and Moschino bright yellow. ELLE singled out colourful statement bags as one of Milan’s key SS27 accessory trends. The easiest way to change an outfit next summer might simply be carrying something much brighter.

2 // Big bags are really back

Finally, somewhere to put your phone, charger, water bottle and everything else you somehow carry around all day. Max Mara showed oversized soft bags, Sportmax substantial tote-duffel hybrids and Bottega Veneta XL leather and raffia totes. After years of bags that barely held a credit card, practicality is starting to look surprisingly cool.

3 // Soft and Slouchy Bags

At the same time, the new big bag doesn’t necessarily mean rigid. Max Mara’s oversized styles folded and slouched naturally, Sportmax gathered leather with long cords, Marni showed loose drawstring pouches and Alberta Ferretti a soft powder-pink pouch. The bag is losing some of its structure — and looking much more relaxed in the process.

4 // The Multi-Bag Trend

This one comes directly from Marni, and we’re obsessed. Meryll Rogge bundled several small leather bags together on one handle, mixing different colours and finishes until the whole thing started looking like one enormous bag charm. It may be more styling idea than universal trend, but it’s exactly the kind of idea worth stealing: apparently even your handbag can layer.

5 // Fringe is moving onto your accessories

Accessories are getting much more tactile. Fendi covered Baguettes and Peekaboos in generous fringe, Etro added fringing and embellishment to its bags, while Bottega Veneta played with oversized tassels and woven textures. These are bags designed to move when you do — much more interesting than another perfectly smooth leather rectangle.

6 // Raffia is leaving the beach

The summer classic is getting a fashion-week upgrade. Bottega Veneta pushed its Intrecciato into XL raffia totes, while Dolce & Gabbana worked with woven baskets, raffia and crochet. Brunello Cucinelli also brought raffia into its SS27 exploration of craft. Translation: your straw bag no longer needs to wait for a holiday in Ibiza.

7 // Earrings are going XXL

Tiny jewellery, take the summer off. Marni showed bold geometric earrings with a strong ’80s feeling, while Bottega Veneta went for tasselled chandeliers and lacquered flowers. ELLE identified impact earrings as one of the major accessory directions coming out of Milan. Wear them with something incredibly simple and let them do all the work.

8 // The belt is jewellery now

The belt no longer needs the excuse of holding up your trousers. At Ferragamo, Maximilian Davis used belts as deliberately decorative, waist-defining accessories: threaded through oversized loops, wrapped across dresses and sometimes worn two at once. Who What Wear also identified waist belts as one of Milan’s emerging SS27 trends. If you still have a box of early-2000s belts somewhere, now might be the moment to open it.

9 // Shoes are getting weird — in a good way

Possibly the most fun accessory story of Milan. MM6 Maison Margiela x Havaianas stacked six flip-flops into one rainbow shoe, Marni distorted Mary Janes and strappy sandals with open backs and attached socks, while Bottega Veneta wrapped feet in twisted fishnets. W Magazine summed up the phenomenon perfectly by identifying “freaky footwear” as one of the things that defined the week. Normal shoes can wait.

10 // Hats have personality again

And finally, look up. Loro Piana put a hat on almost every SS27 look, moving from bucket hats and beanies to baseball caps and a dramatic draped headpiece. Bottega Veneta also experimented with several hat shapes during the season. W Magazine noticed the wider mood too, counting “more than a few excellent hats” among the things that stood out in Milan. The baseball cap isn’t going anywhere — it just has some competition now.
