The schedule for Milan Men’s Fashion Week has been released, revealing a limited line-up and even fewer initiatives. It’s no secret that menswear’s Fashion Week isn’t exactly the most exciting event of the season, with many opting to skip it in favour of the far more captivating Women’s Fashion Week. Taking place from January 17 to 21, this year’s edition seems subdued, with a quieter atmosphere and less buzz around it.
Looking at the sparse line-up and, more broadly, the scarcity of physical shows, it’s clear that this Men’s Fashion Week feels subdued: there are fewer shows and more presentations. It’s a paradigm shift, reflecting how the fashion system is grappling with the ongoing global crisis. Could this mark the end of standalone men’s shows? Will this segment finally be merged into a single, unified Fashion Week alongside women’s? While that seems unlikely, if you’re listening, dear Anna Wintour, give us a sign and shake up the system—these binarisms are tiresome!
Still, during tough economic times, it is often the boldest players who step up. So, which brands are we keeping an eye on for the upcoming MFW?
Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2025: fewer shows, bolder ideas
Fashion show by Magliano – January 19
After returning to Pitti Uomo five years after his debut, winning the Karl Lagerfeld Prize and having Charlie XCX wear a custom-made outfit on her SWEAT Tour, there is nothing that can stop Magliano’s rise. His aesthetic is deeply rooted in the subcultures of suburban areas, and his goal is to give a voice to the marginalised aspects of Italy—far beyond the postcard-perfect image of the country’s sweet life. It is the provinces that captivate him.
His menswear blends tailored garments—highlighted by collaborations with Neapolitan ateliers to create suits whose silhouettes subtly reference Armani’s minimalist legacy—with elements of workwear and outerwear, often drawing inspiration from the ’70s and ’80s. The result is a look that is unmistakably reminiscent of Tondelli. We can’t wait for his queer alternative style to take over MFW!
Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2025: fashion show by Jordanluca – January 18
Jordanluca combines punk attitude with Italian savoir-faire while sparking conversations about addiction and queerness. The label is tailored for the cool kids in Milan who dream of the ever-pulsing vibe of London. Founded in 2018 by Londoner Jordan Bowen and Bolzano native Luca Marchetto after a long-standing friendship in London, the brand initially focused on menswear and has recently expanded into womenswear.
Drawing inspiration from Stephen Jones, ex-Blitz Kid and New Romantic icon, and punk queen Vivienne Westwood, both creative directors and founders are passionate about giving a voice to the demographic they represent. It’s time to make space for the cool kids once again!
Fashion show by PDF – January 17
It’s always a street party when PDF takes the stage. Founded by the multi-talented Domenico Formichetti, the brand was born out of his personal need to create pieces that he couldn’t find anywhere else. The chunky footwear paired with relaxed silhouettes reflect the urban vibe of West Coast rap culture.
PDF is the perfect blend of genius and rebellion—each garment is as versatile as a digital file, adaptable for everyone and free from categorisation, with the product always at its core. Every PDF fashion show brings the brand’s close friends to the runway, including rappers and stars who have a personal connection to Formichetti. What better reason to eagerly await the next show?
Presentation by Federico Cina – January 17
In an era of globalisation, reconnecting with one’s roots feels like an essential anchor for moving forward. Federico Cina’s menswear beautifully exemplifies this concept, with his latest collection paying homage to the broom flower—a floral species deeply connected to his native Emilia Romagna—and the iconic tortellino, celebrated through the aptly named Tortellino Bag. Cina’s creativity never ceases to amaze, as he blends understated elegance with vibrant touches, much like the interplay of sunlit and misty landscapes that define Emilia Romagna.
From classically tailored pieces to slouchier, more relaxed silhouettes and even athleisure wear, Cina masterfully channels the heritage that has shaped him since childhood. Through his work, he offers us a heartfelt glimpse into the soul of his homeland, and for that, we couldn’t be more grateful.
Presentation by Qasmi – January 17
QASIMI, a London-based fashion house with Middle Eastern roots, has been redefining modern design since its launch in 2015 by Khalid Al Qasimi. The brand blends understated elegance with a multicultural perspective, telling the story of an urban nomad who journeys across the globe, fosters cultural dialogue, and unites people through the transformative power of fashion.
Celebrating inclusivity, QASIMI creates gender-fluid pieces infused with socio-political themes, impeccable craftsmanship, and a refined mastery of colour. The latest collection, in collaboration with renowned artist Kambui Olujimi, merges art, sculpture, and fashion to explore profound themes of identity, history, and socio-political systems. Centred on the concept of “spolia,” the collection reimagines the past to craft a bold, contemporary vision. A remarkable debut for this Emirati brand is set to take place on the Milanese stage!
Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2025: the presentation by Mordecai – January 18
Eclectic and often considered part of the post-streetwear wave, Mordecai was founded in 2022 by Ludovico Bruno, the former head designer of Moncler Genius. The brand’s name draws inspiration from the feathers of a down jacket and the falcon referenced in Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums. Mordecai aims to redefine menswear by venturing beyond seasonal, cultural, and technical boundaries.
Designed with the modern traveller in mind, Mordecai seamlessly blends leisurewear with elements inspired by Zen philosophy, featuring exaggerated volumes and subtle kimono-inspired details. The brand represents a fresh perspective in contemporary fashion—functional yet sophisticated, versatile yet refined—striking the perfect balance between functionality and artistry for those seeking style with substance.
