Get ready to stay cosy this winter with a handmade wardrobe! As the holidays approach and the days become chillier, we don’t want you to be unprepared for the cold. That’s why we’d like to introduce you to one of our favourite winter activities: crocheting. It truly is one of the most powerful activities in the world.
Starting with just a hook and a yarn, you can become your own designer, creating unique pieces that reflect your personality and fashion preferences. Crocheting isn’t just a creative outlet; it’s a way to craft unique, stylish accessories that are both personal and practical.
In this tutorial, we will guide you step-by-step through creating the perfect winter accessories that will not only keep you warm but also elevate your style. Are you ready to pick up your hook and yarn? Let’s get started!
Crochet for beginners: how to get started!
It is much deeper than it seems.
When you choose to create something that comes from your hard work rather than simply buying the first piece of clothing you find in a store, you are adding new value to your garments. Your time, care and love will shape these pieces.
Crocheting: A Sustainable Alternative to Fast Fashion
Crocheting is a way to combat overconsumption and embrace your ability to make things for yourself. In a fast-paced world, dedicating hours to work with yarn is beautifully unconventional.
Our grandmothers were right to emphasise the importance of this often-underestimated form of art.
Crochet for beginners, a Step-by-Step Guide to Crocheting Your First Scarf
Was that convincing enough to begin your first project?
Start with a scarf! This scarf is an easy beginner project for anyone wanting to try crocheting.
It makes the perfect winter accessory, ensuring that you not only look stylish but also stay warm with its extra fluffiness.
It will become your go-to piece to layer over any outfit and help you tackle the freezing temperatures!
Here is the full tutorial:
1. Start off by making 155 chains

2. Turn your work and single-crochet into each of the chains.
Once you’re done, turn your work again and chain up one.

3. For the first stitch of the next row, work into both loops.
For the subsequent stitches, work only into the front loop. For the last stitch, work into both loops again.

4. Turn your work
Chain one, then crochet into both loops for the first stitch, then into back loops only for the next stitches. For the last stitch, work into both loops.

Now, repeat this process for 19 rows in the back loops only so you end up with a total of 20 rows.
5. Front Loop
Once you’ve completed the 20 rows, finish off with your last row by working into the front loop only.

Always remember to crochet into both loops for the first and last stitches of each row. This will make your scarf more durable.
Enjoy!
