The new Rubble Dynamism project is original fashion editorial produced by Fashion Styling and Creative Direction students Ebba Gustavson, Ludovica Romeo, Amira Rossi and Vittoria Sbodio using  a collection by Filippo Barbagallo, Fashion Design alumnus from Istituto Marangoni Firenze.

Amira Rossi, the project creative director and curator, accepted the challenge to go beyond the school work and decided to give the collection a new spin in styling and storytelling.

According to her, “it is often said that fashion sells dreams. More than dreams, I believe that fashion serves to give diversions, temporary escape routes from real and persistent problems. Creativity doesn’t save people, but it can help make sense of your days, even the greyest ones. Even in the rubble.”
In the end, the team managed to create a unique mix of street style, underground movement and dance culture.

The photoshoot took place in the studio and outdoors, on the grey outskirts of Florence, as the students wanted to show the contrast between urban life and the historical part of the city. “This photoshoot does not want to deceive but rather demonstrate the true power of every most insignificant creative gesture,” Amira Rossi continued.

The method of street casting was another crucial marker: the models were not picked from the agency and did not have any professional experience in posing. They were from different age groups, fields and backgrounds.

The models performed different dancing styles in front of the camera, regardless of their dancing skills and knowledge, moving as they liked. “Because a silhouette, a dance step or a note of colour are not necessary for survival until you decide otherwise”.
