Multimedia Arts

Join the Multimedia Arts undergraduate programme at Istituto Marangoni Firenze. Explore the latest disruptive changes in the art world and express your creativity as a multimedia artist by harnessing digital technology, audiovisual languages and immersive experiences.

Innovation, experimentation, interdisciplinarity: this is the perfect formula to combine technological excellence and creativity, in order to configurate the meaning of being a multimedia artist nowadays. Encouraging a critical approach to the potential of integrating different artistic languages, Multimedia Arts course interconnects theoretical and practical abilities with the goal to train key players in this fields.

The three-year Multimedia Arts course offers a stimulating trip through the main expressive languages that are characteristic of today’s contemporary art practices. In the last twenty years, the horizons of the art world have changed completely. Art works have gradually abandoned the material to become software, offering onlookers worlds, perceptions and situations that are absolutely innovative and futuristic.

The digital era is inevitably changing the world we live in, blurring the confines between the real and the virtual world. In this scenario art is also forced to take a hard look at itself and at its own function. Nourished by the information flows produced on the web, by the possibilities offered by the social network and, above all, by experimentation with cutting-edge technology, art is called upon to meet the expectations of an increasing public that more and more often is seeking immersive, interactive experiences, where the limits and physical or spatial obstructions are removed.

Designed for all those people who want to acquire the skills that will help them to express their own creativity and apply it both to the world of art and to other sectors such as fashion, the Multimedia Arts course at Istituto Marangoni focuses on audiovisual languages and on the potential offered by new digital technologies with a particular focus on virtual reality and video mapping.

Arts Curating

Join the Arts Curating undergraduate programme at Istituto Marangoni Firenze to pursue a successful career in the art world. The course emphasises cultural and artistic heritage while incorporating digital experimentation and creativity for a modernised art experience.

The contemporary world imposes a new way of thinking about art, about cultural heritage and more generally, the system of creativity. Boosting cultural crossovers and overlaps, for hybridised and mixed subject fields such as visual arts, fashion, design, photography, film, performance, and new media, is the way the three-year Arts Curating course redefines the experience of art.

Talking about “art” or the “arts” is not just a linguistic choice, it is an authentic stance: recognising an extremely vast range of languages and disciplines that now characterise contemporary cultural production. In a society where transformation is so continuous and rapid, even the concept of art needs to be reformulated in order to achieve a more extensive, flexible definition, able to encompass the ever new stimuli and proposals.

This is the foundation of the three-year course in Arts Curating which uses a dynamic, innovative approach, made of constant forays and interdisciplinary dialogues, proposing a perfect mix of solid training in theory and a professional outlook that will meet the challenges of two systems: culture and creativity, together with their constant changes.

The aim of the course is to train professionals who are able to convey culture and promote the historic and artistic heritage, reinventing the art experience through the concepts of contamination, eclecticism and digital experimentation. In this perspective, curating and writing become two tools to construct display and exhibition projects, publishing contributions and media content, where historical knowledge, critical thought, and technological innovation come together with their gaze focused on the art of the future.
