Dear students and readers,

It is with pleasure and excitement that I invite you to explore the brand-new creative platform and student journal of Istituto Marangoni Firenze.

I’M Firenze Digest is a new expressive tool designed for and by the students, a pilot program that stands out in the Istituto Marangoni ecosystem as its first-ever online magazine: a “Best Practice” in education, now regarded by the other Istituto Marangoni Schools worldwide as a model to follow and export abroad.
This is far from a coincidence.

This new in-house magazine reflects a method that is dear to all of us here at Istituto Marangoni, that is to always ensure a real and immersive industry experience, at 360 degrees, 360 days a year.

This was the main goal of the project from day one: offering the students a tool to experience first-hand the quality of a real scientific magazine work environment. An opportunity to develop real skills, with real responsibilities and rewards, to help them become the future content creators that our industries are so eagerly looking for right now.

Yet, I’M Firenze Digest also aims to be a place for exchange, a creative hub where students from the School’s different departments can meet and collaborate, while building stronger bridges between disciplines and backgrounds.

This drive towards an interdisciplinary approach is reflected in the main subjects covered by the magazine, focusing on the dialogue between art, fashion, and new technologies. Today, the keyword to describe the core of our contemporary visual culture is contamination. Entanglements between art and fashion are now instrumental to any new discourse or research of an experimental nature. Artists and designers today are not only exchanging ideas, but also platforms, media, and audiences worldwide.

Therefore, the magazine of Istituto Marangoni Firenze – the School of Fashion & Art, could not look elsewhere to find its focus and guide the students. Such editorial interest on interdisciplinarity will help them study and experience this everchanging cultural environment from the inside: a new panorama where disciplines are merging, new technologies are shaping our future, and cultural knowledge is always the key to success.

Therefore, I’d like to say to all the new readers, welcome inside the new digital branch of Istituto Marangoni Firenze. Learn about the School through the eyes of the students, following their insights on art, fashion, and culture – a fresh vision that only a new generation can provide.

To the student editorial staff, a genuine thank you for your work. We are proud of your achievements. Please continue to use this opportunity to grow.

Finally, to all the students of Istituto Marangoni Firenze, I invite you to participate, share and exchange ideas with your colleagues. Get involved. This is your magazine. Written by you, for you.

Enjoy your reading,
Lorenzo Tellini
